Cricket Footwear



Cricket demands an incredible amount on your feet. From explosive sprints between the wickets to powerful bowling strides and agile fielding, the right footwear isn't just about comfort, it's about performance and, crucially, injury prevention. So, if you're wondering which shoes for you? Read on!

1. First things first: Spikes or Rubbers - Know your surface

If playing on Turf (grass) pitches - then Spikes are your best friend. 
On natural grass wickets, especially those that are soft,  damp, or freshly prepared, metal spikes are essential.
The metal spikes penetrate the ground, offering superior grip and stability for quick movements. Bowlers in particular will find metal spikes in indispensable for a stable run-up and delivery.
And an added bonus, many modern cricket spiked shoes also offer the option to interchange the spikes to hard, plastic conversion spikes.

If playing on Hard/Artificial pitches (Astro-turf or synthetic) - then embrace the rubber sole!
For harder, more consistent surfaces like artificial wickets or indoor arenas, rubber-soled shoes are the why to go. These provide excellent traction without damaging the surface, and offer better cushioning to absorb the impact on unforgiving ground.
These shoes are typically lighter, and more flexible, which is great for batters and fielders who need to be nimble.

 

2. Pick footwear based on your role.

Your role in the team plays a part in your footwear choice!

Fast Bowler: Maximum stability and support
Fast bowlers put immense strain on their feet and ankles. Look for shoes with a full spike configuration (often 7 spikes in the forefoot, 4 at the rear), excellent ankle support (a mid-cut design or Velcro strap over the midfoot), and durable soles that can withstand repeated foot drag. Reinforced toes are also beneficial.

Spin Bowlers: Rotational Stability
Spinners need shoes that provide good rotational stability during their delivery. A modified full-spike pattern with enhanced density around the pivoting foot is often preferred.

Batters: Agility and Cushioning.
Batsmen need to be light on their feet for quick singles and agile footwork. Opt for lighter shoes with less spikes, focusing on cushioning for comfort during long innings and excellent grip for stable footwork and powerful pushes off.

Wicketkeepers: Lateral Movement and Stability.
Wicketkeepers require shoes that offer quick lateral movement and stability for crouching and reacting to deliveries. Some opt for a specialised half-spike pattern.

All-Rounders: The Best of Both Worlds.
If you do a bit of everything, an all-rounder shoe is a smart choice. These aim to strike a balance between batting and bowling needs, often featuring a hybrid sole with a mix of rubber and removable spikes for versatility across different conditions. Look for comfort, durability, and a design that accommodates both explosive power and agile movement.

 

3. The Fit Factor: Comfort is King
No matter your role or the pitch, comfort is paramount. ill-fitting shoes can lead to blisters, discomfort, and even injury, hindering your performance.
Try Before You Buy: Always try on cricket shoes, ideally with the type of socks you'd wear during a match.

Delivery Times & Order Delays

The Greg Chappell Cricket Centre will process your order within 1 business day of your payment being processed.  However, your order may be delayed for the following reasons:

  • Stock availability
  • Store Hours/Closures
  • Incorrect Address provided
  • Postal Delays E.g. Bad weather
  • Payment has not been accepted (Check for confirmation email)
  • Personal details may need to be confirmed for fraud prevention
  • Your order may be coming from different locations and could be under different delivery times.

Within 5 Working Days for Eastern States & 7-10 Working days for other regions of Australia.

Express Post times

Split Deliveries

The Greg Chappell Cricket Centre will always attempt to deliver your goods from a single location, however, we may need to source goods from multiple locations to finalise the order and have it delivered in the most time efficient manner. Your goods may arrive on different days and possibly via different carriers.

 

Track My Order

If you have provided a correct and current email address, you will receive your tracking information via email once it has been dispatched. If you have not received your tracking information, check your junk folder before contacting us at: enquire@cricketcentre.com.au with your order number in the subject field.

Click & Collect

The Greg Chappell Cricket Centre will always attempt to process your order as soon as possible. We ask that you wait to be contacted by GCCC to confirm your order before proceeding to collect instore.

Stock availability in your chosen pickup location may affect processing times or collection times for your order. GCCC will advise you of any delays & notify when your order is ready for collection.

Orders will be held for 30 days after being confirmed as ready for collection. If your order has not been collected by this time, it may be cancelled, and a refund processed.

At the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. We understand that sometimes an item might not be quite right, or you might change your mind. This policy outlines our guidelines for returns, exchanges, and refunds for purchases made online & in-store at the Cricket Centre cricketcentre.com.au.

Before returning any item, please contact our Customer Service team on 1800 469 928 or email enquire@cricketcentre.com.au to discuss your return, this helps us process your return efficiently.


Change of Mind Returns

If you change your mind about an item purchased online or in store, you may return it within 30 days of the original purchase date for an exchange, a store credit, or a refund via your original payment method, provided the following conditions are met:

Proof of Purchase: You must provide your original receipt or proof of purchase.

Original Condition: The item must be unused, unworn, unwashed, and in its original, saleable condition.

Original Packaging: The item must be returned in its original packaging, with all tags attached and accessories included.

*For health reasons, protectors (boxes), and all related undergarments (briefs / trunks / jockstraps / compression shorts / compression longs etc) are not available for return.

No Personalisation: Items that have been custom-made, personalised (e.g., bat knocking-in, toe guard application, custom embroidery), or altered cannot be returned due to change of mind.

Shipping Costs: Original shipping costs are non-refundable. You will be responsible for the cost of returning the item to us.

Restocking Fee: A restocking fee may apply for certain items, which will be advised upon contact with our customer service team.

Faulty or Damaged Items

If an item you purchased online from us is faulty, damaged, or significantly different from the description, we will meet our obligations under the Australian Consumer Law.

Please contact our Customer Service team immediately upon discovering the fault or damage. We may ask for photographs or further details to assess the issue.

Depending on the nature of the fault, you may be entitled to a refund, replacement, repair, or store credit.

Assessment: All returned faulty items will be assessed by our team. This may involve sending the item to the manufacturer for their assessment.

Fair Wear and Tear: This policy does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, or normal wear and tear.

Bat Damage: Cricket bats, particularly, are subject to significant stress during use. While we only stock quality bats, no bat is unbreakable. We assess bat damage based on manufacturing faults versus damage due to general use or misuse (e.g., hitting yorkers, edge shots, hitting with a new ball without knocking in).

 

How to Return an Online Purchase

Processing Your Return

Once your returned item is received and inspected by our team:

For Exchanges: Your new item will be shipped to you (additional shipping charges may apply for the new item, depending on the value and size).

For Store Credit: A store credit will be issued to your online account as a digital gift card within 3-5 business days.

For Refunds (Faulty Items Only): Refunds will be processed back to the original method of payment.

You will receive an email notification once your return has been processed.
