New Year, New Shoes

When it comes to cricket, having the right gear can make all the difference! An often overlooked, yet crucial piece of cricket kit is the humble cricket shoes. The right pair of cricket spikes or cricket rubbers not only supports your game, but provides comfort and safety while on the field.

Some features to look for in your new cricket shoes:

  1. Support & Protection
Cricket shoes should feel like they have adequate ankle and midfoot structure, able to support you doing quick lateral movements. They should also feature a comfortable midsole and durable outsole. Somes brands such as Asics allow you to add your orthotic inserts to you cricket shoes, and brands like New Balance, cater for wider feet, with their 2E & 4E fits. Everyone's foot shape is slightly different, so don't stress, the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre can help you find the perfect fit for your foot!

  2. Grip & Traction
Cricket fields can vary, with some being wet, soft, dry or artificial. Cricket shoes should have a good tread, providing excellent grip while batting/bowling/fielding. If playing on Turf use a spike shoe, and on artificial turf or hardwickets, use a rubber sole shoe.

  3. Comfort & Breathability
The most important factor in choosing any sports shoe is comfort. Long hours at the crease in uncomfortable shoes can lead to blisters, soreness and potential injuries. Breathability is another factor to consider when playing outside, in summer, in the harsh Australian cricket conditions.

Whether it's your first match or you're a season player, the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre is here to ensure you're equipped for success.
